The first Adam was placed in a beautiful garden by God but ended up severing that relationship by succumbing to the temptation of sin and being cast out into the wilds. Christ, on the other hand, the New or “Second Adam,” goes into the barren wilderness to do battle with the devil and restores the relationship between God and man through His victory over sin - leading us back towards Paradise.
