“When Jesus saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” (Matt. 9:36)
“When Jesus saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.” (Matt. 9:36)
Compassion, like love, is an attribute of God that He imparts unto His creatures, but it is also a word that is so commonplace we often forget just how powerful it is. In the Bible, the Hebrew and Greek words translated as compassion, means “to feel sympathy for another person’s pain, suffering, or plight; to take pity on them; to show mercy.”
Jesus changed the world through His compassion. Therefore, may we truly “love our neighbor as ourself” (Matt. 22:39) and help bring about positive change through the Name and Love of Jesus Christ.
Fr. John
