All or Nothing

A person came to the elder and asked: "What is love?" The elder replied: "Nothing." 
The man was very surprised and began to tell him that he had read many books in which it was described that love is different, sad and happy, eternal and fleeting. 
Then the elder replied: "Everything." 
The man again did not understand anything and asked: "How do you understand? All or nothing? 
"The wise elder smiled and said: "You just answered your own question: nothing or everything. There can be no middle ground!"
