“Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’” (Luke 10:5)
“Whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’” (Luke 10:5)
When Jesus sent the disciples to distant regions and towns to prepare people for His arrival, our Lord told them to find homes that would accept both, His message and His messengers. Jesus went on to instruct these men to enter a home with a blessing of “peace.” Peace, or “shalom” in Hebrew, was not only a typical greeting (as well as a farewell), but carried with it the idea of love, welfare, graciousness, and charity – in the Name of God – upon all those who inhabited it.
Fr. John
