In last Sunday's video people are lying down on the road waiting for the Holy Relics of St. Gerasimos. ....The demonized woman is screaming out, blasting the name of the Saint.

This past Sunday we celebrated St. Gerasimos of Kephalonia - the transfer of his Holy Relics (ανακομιδη του Ιερού Λειψάνου).

Do you remember the movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin with Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz.... This is exactly where the event of this past Sunday occurred. If you remember the beginning of the movie it shows the main character played by P. Cruz participating in the Litany on the feast day of the FAMOUS SAINT (not only in Kephalonia and Greece but throughout the world)... St. Gerasimos (tin euxi tou na exoume) celebrates on August 15 (his falling asleep in The Lord), which corresponds with a big day for us as we celebrate the great and Theomitoric Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos. For this reason - Pascha of Summer - the saint is celebrated mostly in the Island on that day, along with the Dormition of the Theotokos, as the rest of the Orthodox world on that day celebrates widely the Dormition of the Theotokos - Κοίμηση της Θεοτόκου. So his feast day is kind of eclipsed by the great feast of the Holy Mother of God. On Oct. 20 though we commemorate the transfer of his Holy Relics, which is again a big day for Kephalonia...At any rate, during these holy commemorations it is the tradition of each city/island/village/monastery that has the GREAT HONOR of having/holding holy relics of other sanctified treasures (as provided by the TYPIKON) that they take the RELICS out (a whole ceremony on its own with certain rules that have to be followed, again described in the Great TYPIKON, starting the previous night with Great Vespers (usually all night vigil - Agripnia, especially in the monasteries) and next day Great ORTHROS AND DIVINE LITURGY, then the Great Litany - going throughout the city with the Holy Relics for the blessing and healing of the faithful - ending with Vespers in the evening of that day and the chanting of the Paracletic Cannon of the celebrating Saint)... Again bring to mind the girl (main character) at the beginning of the movie.

In last Sunday's video people are lying down on the road waiting for the Holy Relics of St. Gerasimos.  As you will see, the Reverened Relics go over hundreds (or thousands of people) like a computerized system - as we would say using the terminology of the 21st century - scanning through so many people until it finds where the demons are hiding and the Saint kicks them out immediately.. Peep peep peep peeeeeeepppeeeeeepppp and boom out.... The video is very touching and shocking at the same time... The demonized woman is screaming out, blasting the name of the Saint, telling him to go away, then she screams "you spoiled my sorcery they (the demons) left me....you destroyed me...you "naughty" Saint Gerasime...  Those two women... Go go away".....

Holy Saint of God, Gerasimos, intercede for us!

Dear People,

This is a video from last Sunday, October 20, the feast day of Saint Gerasimos of Cephalonia, Greece.  It clearly shows the incorruptible body of the Saint being carried in procession on the feast day.  Note all the people lying on the ground as the relic is carried over them.  Halfway through the video you see a young women yelling out in Greek "You are burning me." This Saint is known for his grace through Christ to banish demons from possessed people. Remember God is consuming fire and Satan cannot stand the presence of God in this case through His Saint Gerasimos.  +Fr. CJSimones.
