“Let not your hearts be troubled.” (John 14:1)
As always, the meaning of any particular passage of Scripture can only be ascertained by understanding its context. Thus, when Jesus admonished the disciples, saying, “do not let your hearts be troubled,” He did so in the face of His Own impending death. Believers today are not in the same specific situation, but the admonition still applies. We should not let our hearts be troubled by anxiety or worry about God's care and plan for us. True faith is learning to trust God even when you don't know or understand His plan.
Fr. John
