“He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” (Mark 1:35)
Solitude, being alone with God, is considered one of the traditional spiritual disciplines. It usually entails prayer, silence, meditation, and simply enjoying being in God’s presence. Solitude is a means by which we distance ourselves from the cares and distractions of the world, allowing us to tune out the deafening madness and truly focus to “hear” God’s eternal voice. Being still and calm also offers rest and refreshment to both our soul and body.
Fr. John
