When Elder Bessarion the Agathonite was reading
something he liked and thought I should read it too, unable to tell me about what he had read, due to his vocal difficulty, he would ask me to read it to him, ostensibly so that he could hear it, while his goal was that I too would benefit from reading it. When I told him to give it to me to read later, he, fearing that I might throw the magazine away and thus forget to read it, insisted that I read it to him at that moment.
His persistence, at that time, worried me, because as a professor, books were my inseparable companions all day long. Later I understood the greatness of this pedagogical and blessed tactic of his! Beautiful Stories which I was reading then, due to the "pressure" of Fr. Bessarion, I told them the other day to my students and they also benefited spiritually"
