St. Callinicus of Edessa says:

“You see the crucified Lord, my child,

He wants to embrace us all. He shows us the path of sacrifice, the path of love, the path that

leads to Golgotha... Think and act. The priesthood

is not a refuge for the fainthearted, but for those who strive.

Fight the good fight. Once, my child,

a young man like you went to a Monastery. He asked

the Abbot to keep him as a monk.

The Abbot kept him, led him to the cell in

which he would live.  The cell was luxurious. Is there another cell, old man? He took him to that one a little while later. Again the same thing. He took him to a cell that had only a bed, a chair, a table, nothing else, except for a huge Crucified Ones. Oh! Old man, I will stay here, I will rest here.  This is my child the monk"
