Who will roll away the stone?
July 18.
“Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James and Salome... went to the tomb at sunrise and said to each other, ‘Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb?’ And when they looked up, they saw that the stone had been rolled away. and it was very large.” (Mark 16:1–4)
How often is there a heavy stone on our path, a powerful obstacle to achieving our goal, and it seems to us that there is no way to remove it. We feel helpless and repeat the words of the myrrh-bearing women: “Who will roll away the stone for us?” And so? Where the main obstacle was for them, there unexpected joy met them: the stone had already been rolled away, and they learned about the Resurrection of the Lord!
What a lesson this story should serve us! Let us rely entirely on the Lord, not allowing even a shadow of doubt in ourselves, and the Angel of the Lord will descend upon our thorny path. He will remove the stone, and when we find ourselves before that which frightened us beforehand, we will see that, by the grace of God, it has been turned into joy for us and has become easy.
