Our world operates on a type of “cause and effect” basis. We do things in hope of an outcome. We work to receive wages, we study to receive good grades, we are kind and decent towards others expecting to receive the same treatment in return. Thus, within this system, man is conditioned and prone to receiving a reward, gratification for his efforts. Yet, Christ tells us NOT to do good things in this life to receive good things in this life, but to do good things to receive our reward in His Kingdom.
