“no prophet is accepted in his own country.” (Luke 4:24)

Jesus’ early ministry was centered in and about the region of Galilee and His own city of Nazareth. Yet to these people, our Lord was viewed as nothing more than the carpenter’s son and they did not accept Him as a spiritual leader, let alone the Messiah. They even took offense at His teaching and chased Him out of town; thus, fulfilling the proverb that “no prophet is accepted in his own country.” (Luke 4:24)

Fr. John
