Feast Day of Sts. Peter and Paul!!

Feast Day of Sts. Peter and Paul

It is always interesting to note that Christ did not build His Church using perfect people. More often than not our Lord chose to use individuals who were broken and flawed; sinful and weak people who didn’t fit the mold of what we would consider an ideal disciple. Yet, the Church was constructed and has stood the test of time despite human frailties and weakness. And today we celebrate two pillars of the Church who are perfect examples of this fact: Sts. Peter and Paul.
Peter, a simple, uneducated fishermen, fluctuated back and forth between ferocious faith and wavering weakness…even abandoning and denying knowing His Master. While Paul, a Pharisee, originally hated Christ and thought he was doing right by persecuting and killing Christians.
In spite of all these barriers presented, Christ’s love moved the hearts and minds of these “living stones” to build His Church which continues to teach, touch, and empower us to do the same.
O Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, pray unto God for us!
Fr. John
