Leaders must lead by example.

In today’s epistle reading, those “overseeing” the church (its bishops and clergy) are called to be “examples to the flock” (1st Peter 5:3). Thus, in order to fulfill such a role, one must adhere to and practice the Gospel teachings of our Lord with commitment and vigor, showing by their own example how to follow Christ. For if the leaders of the Church do not follow the teachings and tenets of Christ, how can they expect the people to? Leaders must lead by example.
